Acroyoga taught me that consent isn’t just about sex.
I’m the one lying on the grass.
For the practice of acroyoga to be fun and safe, partners need to feel comfortable and confident communicating about their bodies.
One day while practicing with my friends at Washington Square Park in NYC, I realized that the body boundary and communication skills we were building through acroyoga were the same skills necessary to navigate sexual interactions.
With a decade of experience in schools, yoga classes, and mental health settings helping young people learn how to be good friends to themselves and each other, I developed a skills-based, scaffolded, social-emotional framework for teaching practical consent education to kids, teens, and emerging adults.
